REFORESTATION

Introduction
Why?

Introduction

By the end of 2002, Naturalia A.C., decided to begin a reforestation project that would have immediate effect in the metropolitan area of Mexico City and its surrounding rural areas. The main objective was, and still is, to create an open forum for citizen participation to generate social awareness in the attention and recovery of our forests.

Today, we have set new objectives and now, thanks to the commitment of different stakeholders from the private sector and civil society, we have been able to expand the attention to forests in other states like Nuevo Leon, Jalisco, Queretaro, Hidalgo, and Puebla. Together, we will accomplish the rescue of our natural areas, which are the responsability of all of us.

Why?

Each year, Mexico’s major cities have a significant increase in their population and contamination levels. With this constant urban, growth, strong pressures are generated for natural protected areas and conservation land, thereby reducing its territory.

This causes serious consequences such as: the reduction of environmental services generated by these green areas, lack of water, more air pollution, loss of wildlife, increased floodings, amongst others.
