This website is the property of and is operated by Naturalia, Comité para la Conservación de Especies Silvestre, A.C, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, dedicated to the protection of the biodiversity in Mexico through the creation and development of conservation projects for the preservation of the ecosystems and their species, particularly those in danger of extinction through publication, awareness, and environmental education.

Our Privacy Policy informs you what specific information we collect when you visit our site, how we use and share it, what are your options as a user on how we use it, and how you can update this information. If you do not agree in all or part of this Policy, please refrain from using this website. Some aspects of our Privacy Policy also apply to personal information we collect offline.

Naturalia A.C. believes users have the right to protect their privacy and we work hard to protect your security in the Internet. This Privacy Policy applies to all the web pages in our www.naturalia.org.mx site. This does not apply to other organizations appearing in the “links” section, whose policies may differ from Naturalia’s.

By “personal information” this Privacy Policy refers to the information that identifies a particular individual, such as name, zip code, e-mail address and telephone. Whenever other information, such as an e-mail address for the newsletter, is directly associated with personal information, this information also becomes part of the personal information and is added to it.
 



Personal information

Some pages in our site do not require registration. However, if you are interested in subscribing to the Volunteers’ Bulletin, register to any of the activities we organize (such as reforestations), subscribe to the Especies magazine, become a Member or make an online donation, you will have to provide us with your personal information, except for the last option where you can make it anonymously.  For example, if you subscribe to the Especies magazine, we will request your name, address, zip code, e-mail address and telephone number. In addition, you may provide us with supplementary information, such as: profession, birth date, etc. If the product is a gift from you to another party, we will request the same information for that other party.


Other information obtained through technology

In addition to the information you provide us, we also gather through technology “non personal information”, which makes our site more interesting and useful to you. For example, when you access our site, we collect your Internet Protocol (IP). The IP is associated to the portal through which you access our site, as your Internet service provider. We also use IP to gather data related to the frequency our users visit the different pages in our site. This information does not allow personal identification and it is not our intention these data be accessed by those surfing our website. The server registers information of the time and date in which the website was accessed and the address of the server from which the connection was made to our site. These data is used to improve the performance of our site, for statistical analysis (i.e., the times and dates when our site is more visited), and to evaluate the success of our different sections.

Sometimes we also use cookies, which are small fragments of information stored in you computer, which allow us to remember information about our users. At times, we allow our website to send cookies so the users can personalize some options. We do not use cookies to leave a registry of the contents chosen by the visitor.  The user may modify its navigation program to receive a warning at the moment a cookie enters its system.



Information use

The use we make of the personal information supplied through memberships, donations, products requests, records of our activities, subscriptions or renewals to our Especies magazine are for internal use in accordance to our Privacy Policy. You will have the opportunity to receive additional information and promotional materials.  We list these uses below.
  1. The data we request in any of our questionnaires in the www.naturalia.org.mx site will exclusively be used to establish contact with you in relation to your request and unless we inform you of other uses at the moment we receive your information.
  2. The personal information you provide will be used for internal surveys and statistics
  3. The data you enter in the contact questionnaire will not be published, distributed or commercialized.
  4. Naturalia A.C., does not sell or let the lists of electronic mails addresses or any other data or information that allows personal identification outside our organization.
  5. We maintain records of the individuals who request information or help in case we need to contact them again or to provide more information in the future. However this information is not shared with anyone without the previous consent of the individual and is not used for other purposes.
  6. The information in our website does not allow personal identification and we do not intend this data to be available to those navigating our website.
  7. We offer our collaborators and volunteers the possibility to control, modify and update their information with Naturalia A.C. Just send the updated data to info@naturalia.org.mx writing on the subject “INFORMATION UPDATE” and we will write back confirming the change.
  8. We do our best to protect the users’ information stored outside the net. All information we receive from the user, not only the sensitive one, is restricted to our offices. Only our staff is granted access to this personal information and only to carry out specific tasks such as, registration of donations, etc. The servers where we store personal information are guarded in a safe site.
  9. Naturalia, A.C. uses this personal information to maintain and manage your account, deliver the products requested and, in general, to enhance your experience when visiting our website, for example:
  • Process and manage memberships
  • Process and manage subscriptions to the Especies magazine
  • Process and manage donations
  • Contact users regarding the status of deliveries of products
  • Contact users regarding bills
  • Contact users to clarify concerns
  • Send renewal notices of the Especies magazines
  • Send the Volunteers’ Bulletin
  • Send notices on events organized by or related to Naturalia, A.C.
  • Send notices on updates to our Privacy Policy.



Your preferences

We understand the importance of protecting your privacy and thus offer you the option to choose whether your personal information is used or not for certain purposes.

Receiving promotional materials from Naturalia, A.C. is completely optional. If you prefer not to receive supplementary and/or promotional information or materials, please contact us at: info@naturalia.org.mx     

It is also optional that you give your consent to share your personal information with third parties. If you agree to do so, please send an e-mail to Naturalia, A.C. to: info@naturalia.org.mx writing on the subject “CONSENT TO SHARE INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES.”

If you wish to be removed from our data base you could, at any time, request the removal of your data by sending an electronic mail to info@naturalia.org.mx writing on the subject “DELETE PERSONAL DATA”.

We commit ourselves to offer our members, donors, subscribers, volunteers or any other person, company or institution registered in our database the possibility to control and modify the information they send us to have your information updated with Naturalia A.C. Just send the information you want to update to: info@naturalia.org.mx writing in the subject  “UPDATE INFORMATION” and we will answer back confirming the change.

A few weeks may go by before the changes are made or human errors may occur and we appreciate your understanding and patience. In the case that you continue receiving unrequested communications from Naturalia, A.C., we ask you to contact us again and will make an effort to correct the mistake.



Links to other sites of interest

Naturalia, A.C. considers important that you know other Internet websites related to the conservation of species and offer you a listing of these sites. They operate independently of www.naturalia.org.mx and have established their own privacy and security policies. We want to make you aware that when you leave our site our policies are no longer in effect and we invite you to learn about the policies of the new sites you visit. Please note that Naturalia, A.C. merely suggests these sites and is not responsible for their contents. Also, Naturalia, A.C. establishes relations with other companies and institutions that may be promoted in our site. However, Naturalia, A.C. is not responsible for the content, privacy and security policies of the websites of these companies or institutions.


Changes to this privacy policy

Naturalia, A.C. may amend this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make significant changes to the way we collect, use and/or share your personal information, we will notify you by sending you an e-mail to your latest recorded address and/or will directly notify the changes on our websites. In any event, changes made to this Privacy Policy will affect our use of your personal information you have provided us prior to our notification to you of the amendment.
